Another day another dollar?????

Hi all

Yesterday involved a few losing bets on the horses and one winner on the footie (Denmark vs Germany) which was pleasing.

Today has been quite turbulent but has ended in a slight loss (minature stuff) had quite a few hit the bar bets on the horses which is the way it goes.

Looking forward i have contacted betfair and got the poker client banned on my account. I have been kidding myself that i can live with the stakes i have been playing at over any period of time. I have also found myself playing pots of high value, this is a strange dilemma as i have no problem putting such amounts on football matches and horse races. Maybe i have just been out of my comfort zone in poker , anyway no more poker for me , maybe i will come back to it maybe i wont. If i do i will have to learn a lot more about the game and develop my game to live with some on the sharks on betfair.

Girlfriend has comeback from the states today :) As well as being good for obvious reasons after a month away :) It will also help me to spend less evenings wondering what to do and ending up playing poker and normally losing any profits made. The last month has made me realise i think how sad your life could become if all your pretty much doing 16 hours a day is betting related, it becomes pretty tiresome after a while.

On a + side to finish my rakeback for this months poker losses due in a couple of days should be massive :)

All the best to everyone

Oh My God, but overall a good day

Hi everyone

Thanks first of all to uk gatsby for putting my link on his excellent blog, i have added his blog to my links please check it out. I have known gats since he used to play the us nags a few years he is now a very very good lower stakes online poker play and writes a very good blog.

Well a tiring day , racing provide very good profit with 2 bets and one obiliging at 8-1ish on betfair.

I played a sit n go on betfair and went out with ak all in against jacks on the bubble, played with support of my mentor and this helped greatly.

Just gone in as a short stack on a 5-10 table (mistake to start with) play really really well and double up, i then call with 8 9 suited and the flop is 6 7 10 rainbow. I bet the pot , i get re raised all in by 2 other players, i simply have to call.

Turn is queen , river is king. Player a has trip aces and loses, player b has a king high straight (loose call you could argue on flop) and i lose with the nuts on the flop. I feel very annoyed but i didnt reload and you have to take these things on a chin.

Perspective says a good day but a $4k pot would have rounded it of nicely :)

Hello all why am i doing this????????

Hello everybody and anybody who ends up reading this.

Its jbarnes from betfair here, if you are reading this and you read/post on the forums you will be thinking one of 2 things,

a, (horse racing forum) hes not a bad judge on horse racing , seems a nice guy.

b, (poker forum) he can play well but if we stay around long enough he will give me his stack to me with a very bad call, then he will reload and play stupidly.

My main problem at the moment is discipline and not treating the cash i win with any respect whatsoever.

Here are three ground rules i must follow :

1. Stop playing high limit cash poker/heads up, in reality my poker game is ok at best and i have a lot to learn before i am ready for these limits online with the guys who do it day in day out for a living.

2. Stake within bankroll limits (5% rule on any one bet) at all times

3. Deposit limits set on all online betting sites i use (already done) to help prevent chasing losses.

How am i going to improve?

I have been gambling for 5 years now (im 24 yrs old) and the net result is i have nothing gained from it in real terms (housing e.t.c) , that said i am not in any debt due to gambling and i no that in 2 areas horse racing and football i have the skills required to make a living from this game.

I have enlisted the help of a poker player i respect from betfair to analyze my game and help me improve, he has already suggested i diversify into tournament play for a short while in order to broaden my game, this sounds like a good idea to me (and definitely a cheaper one)

How do i crack my discipline issues?

Good question wish i knew the answer any suggestions welcomed :) some good friends on betfair and another site i post my footie tips on have tried to help before, this time i am determined to stay on the straight and narrow so to speak.

What will i post on here?

I wont just be posting interesting poker hands, bets i have won/lost, i will be keeping a regular update on the +/- of my bankroll with every post.

Best of luck and any comments welcomed.
